The Exhibits

The Open-Air Museum of Locomotives contains the following exhibits:

  • Steam locomotive TKp-20 „Śląsk”
  • Steam locomotive TKh-4027 „Ferrum”
  • Steam locomotive TKb-10 „Baziel”
  • Steam locomotive Ty246-22 „Truman” – heavy engine designed to operate freight trains, manufactured in 1947 by Lima Locomotive Works in Ohio, USA, the only surviving steam locomotive in Poland of this series.
  • Steam locomotive Ty43-74 (1) – one of the seven surviving steam locomotives of this type in Poland, made in Zakłady Cegielskiego (Cegielski Manufacturer) in Poznan.
  • Steam locomotive Ol49-79 – designed to conduct light and heavy weight trains, these locomotives were produced in the years 1951-1954 by Zakłady Fablok in Chrzanów.
  • Steam locomotive Pt47-93 – produced in 1947 by Zakłady Cegielskiego (Cegielski Manufacturer), designed to run fast trains.
  • Steam locomotive Ty45-39 – produced in 1946 in Chrzanów (boiler in Poznań), renovated in 2011.
  • Steam locomotive Ty42-9 – produced in 1946 in Poznań, renovated in 2011.
  • Steam locomotive Tr21-53 – first steam locomotive built in Poland to run freight trains and shunting.
  • Diesel locomotive SM41-175 – produced in 1956 in Budapest, renovated in 2011.
  • Diesel locomotive SM30-039 – polish shunting locomotive produced in 1957, renovated in 2011.
  • Diesel locomotive SM03-41 – light shunting locomotive made in 1959, produced in Chrzanów, renovated in 2011 r.
  • Electric locomotive ET21-1 – locomotive built in Zakłady PAFAWAG in Wrocław.
  • Our flagship Px48-1723 steam locomotive with tender (from 1953, renovated in 2011) sets at the intersection of Łaska and Karsznicka street.

One of our exhibits – locomotive Ty2-702 – was lent to Museum of Independence Traditions in Łódź and is located in the Department of Radegast Station. The Open-Air Museum is the place for some other interesting devices. Just beyond the entrance gate is located an American self-propelled steam crane from 1943 manufactured by Brownhoist Industrial Corporation and transferred to Poland under economic aid in 1945. Next is swirling snow plow W-14 steam-powered, produced by the German company Henschel GmbH in 1944. Traction engine (lokomobila) from 1942 – german reciprocating steam engine designed to drive an electric generator and pumps. We also have a power generator from 1936 produced by Warszawska Spółka Akcyjna Budowy Parowozów. An additional attraction for visitors is the trolley to Gubałówka from 1936. The Association shall endeavor to restore the simulation to enter the Gubalówka – trolley is set on an inclined track, and was moved by hydraulic motor.

Besides that, in The Open-Air Museum is The Chamber of History, in which are kept all the memorabilia, documents, photographs showing the history of the local company and the people associated with it. Among the above the memory of the railway men participating in the resistance during the II world war is not forgotten. There are also sports trophies, as well as models of locomotives made by local school students (formerly Technikum Kolejowe – Railway Technical College, now Zespół Szkół im. K. Kałużewskiego i J. Sylli – The School named after K. Kałużewski and J. Sylla).
